Google Announces $17 Billion Wyoming Data Center

Google announced a long-term $17 billion investment on November 5 for its first data center in Wyoming.

The announced partners include Tallgrass Energy, Black Hills Energy, AEP and Related Digital. The power plan includes a 702 MW fuel-cell development with carbon capture and storage. Its fuel cells will convert natural gas into electricity; these are planned project specifications, not evidence that the facility is already fully operational.

Google says the data center will use air cooling to minimize pressure on local water resources. That does not mean every activity at the site consumes no water. The announcement illustrates how cloud and AI expansion increasingly depends on energy and resource planning; actual environmental performance will need assessment during operation.
